The PDA Occupational Therapy Support has been designed to provide a flexible progression route from relevant HNCs at SCQF Level 7 for individuals currently employed as support workers within occupational therapy. Four differing pathways provide content and learning relevant to previous qualification.

There are four pathways on this course with unit content being dependent on previous learning. Learners study three units of the following:

Protection of individuals from harm and abuse; Understanding and supporting behaviour; Occupational therapy support: audit; Psychology / sociology in healthcare; Anatomy and physiology for support workers; Core concepts of occupational therapy (all learners).

Assessment is continuous, with a mix of practical and theoretical assessments.

Entry Requirements

Employment as a support worker in occupational therapy. Previous health or social care related qualification at SCQF Level 7.
Learners must have access to and regular contact with a workplace mentor.

Progression Routes

BSc Hons Occupational Therapy, BA/DipHE Education: Education and Social Services or employment as an assistant practitioner.
