The course includes two placements in a health care setting (Care Home and NHS Lanarkshire).
Core units:
Essential skills for care professionals; Individual pathways to health and social care; Learning through practice; Personal development planning; Physiology for care professionals; Principles of professional practice; Therapeutic relationships: understanding behaviour; Safe working practice for care; Sociology for care practice; Graded unit.
2 Highers including English, or 1 Higher plus Foundation Apprenticeship Social Services and Healthcare; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview, pre-entry test and reference.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
Successful completion may allow students to progress to a Degree programme in Nursing, Paramedic Science and Allied Health Professions. Some students may access Year 2 of the Nursing Degree at UWS or GCU. Progression is dependent on a satisfactory PVG check.
