This qualification is for College lecturers working in Scotland who may not have had a formal introduction to teaching or who may wish to gain formal recognition of their skills. Others may be changing roles and wish to refresh their competencies.
It develops the high-level skills and competencies required to teach in a college, from setting learning goals, to seeking feedback, to understanding barriers to learning and how to overcome them.
You should be working in a college or comparable setting and have a teaching timetable which provides you with the opportunity to meet the assessment criteria.
Learners should normally be teaching a unit or course for a minimum of 20 hours to enable them to produce a portfolio of evidence from the workplace in working with a group of learners (minimum group size 6).
