Content

The aim of the course is to develop your knowledge and technical skills in order to meet the safety, legislative and industry demands that go along with working with land-based machines and equipment.

It covers engine technologies and systems and develops maintenance and repair skills, as well as introducing you to the machinery you'd use in ground and grass care.

It also provides some general skills you'll be able to take into any work environment, like health and safety knowledge and communications.

A blend of hands-on learning, real-life work experience and classroom teaching gives you the theoretical knowledge and practical skills you need to find work in the land-based sector or to develop your career.

Modules include: engine technology; piston engine repair skills; electrics introduction; workshop processes; welding, mechanical transmission; hydraulic systems; brakes; steering and traction; general ground care machinery; grass maintenance machinery; health & safety and the environment; mathematics: craft 1; communications; work experience.

Entry Requirements

2 subjects at National 5 plus English and Maths at National 4; or NC Landbased Engineering: An Introduction.
