This exciting course develops knowledge and creative skills in a variety of areas including textiles, drawing, printmaking, fashion and costume, 3D design, and mixed media. The course combines elements of traditional and contemporary applied design processes. Emphasis is placed on creative experimentation and students use a wide variety of materials, media and skills to develop their ideas.

The course covers concept development, design research, problem solving and presentation of design ideas. In year 1, students are introduced to a wide range of media and techniques including textiles, mixed media, photography, digital media and printmaking. Year 2 then enables students to further develop individual concepts, aesthetics and technical skills mainly through individual projects.

Drawing; Creative Process; Contextual Studies; Textiles; Fashion/Performance Costume; Printmaking; Digital Media; Mixed Media; Portfolio Production; Fashion Illustration; Personal Development Planning; 3D Design; Personal Projects; Community Arts.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including Art and Design, English preferred, National 5 English (if not held at Higher); or Foundation Apprenticeship Creative and Digital Media plus Higher Art and Design; or NC Art and Design; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Applicants must submit a digital folio of recent artwork.

Progression Routes

BA Art and Design at Forth Valley College or other relevant degree programme.
