Content

If you are musically talented, have the ability to play an instrument and a real passion for working in what is a challenging yet exhilarating industry, this course will set you on the right path.

You will work together in small groups to prepare performances, record your own music and play gigs while working on theory and contextual study in class. Students need to be driven and enthusiastic to achieve the highest results.

Most of NC Music is not specific to a particular genre. Performance is offered in many instruments of the Scottish tradition, as well as singing in Scots and Gaelic, utilising the talents of tutors from the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music, Plockton. We also offer tuition in typical rock/pop instruments, including guitar, bass, drums and keyboards. We may also be able to offer tuition in other instruments and styles – please get in touch for details.

Core Skills are an integral part of the course and you will study ICT, Numeracy and Communication. These will be closely tied in with the other units you are studying and will enable you to move on with confidence to your next educational step or place of employment.
