Content

This is an intensive programme of humanities study for mature learners encompassing subjects at a Higher level with the aim of preparing them for entry into university courses. This course is allied to the Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP). SWAP promotes access to university for adult learners returning to education after a gap.

You must have been away from formal full time education for at least 3 years (or 5 years if you already have Higher or HN qualifications).

Content:

- Literature/Communication (Many universities accept Literature 1/Communication NC (Higher levels) as English Higher)
- National 5 Maths
- ICT (Up to Higher level unit depending on student's abilities)
- Higher Psychology
- Higher Sociology
- Preparation for Higher Education
- Local Investigations.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements, selection by interview which will include two written tasks. References may be requested.

Progression Routes

Range of NC and HNC Courses. Progression to university is entirely dependent on completion of all course units as part of the SWAP programme.
