Industries such as Film, TV, Podcasting, Digital Content Creation, Social Media, Gaming and Literature all depend heavily on Creative Writing input and the imaginative powers of its authors. This course will provide you with the creative and technical skills in order to work collaboratively across and beyond the sector.

The creative industries have been identified as one of 7 growth sectors by the Scottish Government, with its contribution to the economy (GVA) having grown 62% between 2008 and 2017.

Content:

As part of this course, students will have the opportunity to gain a Higher English qualification and gain practical skills in relation to professional industries.

Specific units include: Writing Across Media; Creative Writing; Literature and Poetry; Representation and Narrative Genre in Selected Medium.

Over the academic year, students will develop a portfolio of writing in media of their choice and present these in an end of year NCL Creative Writing Exhibition.

Entry Requirements

National 5 English. A keen interesting in creative writing alongside a passion for communication industries.
