The NC Manufacturing Engineering course is designed to allow you to develop knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles of manufacturing. You will learn both traditional and modern manufacturing processes, along with the accompanying theory. The course also covers the fundamentals of CNC and Computer-aided Draughting and includes manufacturing using 3D printers. This course is ideal for apprentices in the manufacturing sector or for those looking to upskill.

Contents Include:
Communication core skill unit; Mathematics: Technician 1; Engineering: Applying information technology; CNC machining; Computer Aided Draughting (CAD) for Engineers; Engineering dimensional control; Engineering materials; Engineering material removal principles; Engineering workshop skills; Graphical engineering communications; Material removal practice: Milling; Material removal practice: Turning.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 5 including Maths and a science or technological subject, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5.

Progression Routes

Relevant HNC or HND, or an apprenticeship in the Mechanical, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Aerospace and Ship Building sectors.
