The course has been designed for individuals who are working within a Children and Young People setting and will provide evidence of an individual's competency in supporting children in all aspects of daily life. The Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF level 6 is designed for people who are already working, in a range of environments including day or home care settings, family support, nursery or education settings. Candidates are required to compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate understanding of theory, principles and practices.

The SVQ will allow you to build upon your existing skills and knowledge to enhance practice in a range of settings. The course will provide individuals with the skills, knowledge and experience to develop a career within this sector and register with SSSC at Support Worker level.

This course provides you with the opportunity to reflect on your own personal and professional development whilst also allowing you to update and expand existing knowledge.

You will study the following subject areas:

Support effective communication; Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals; Support the safeguarding of children; Develop your own knowledge and practice; Support children's learning through play; Contribute to the effectiveness of teams

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have good communication skills and the ability to work at Higher level.

Progression Routes

HNC Childhood Practice or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7.
