Content

This course will really get you work-ready, giving you the skills and knowledge you need for an apprenticeship in site carpentry. By now, you’ll already be pretty good, but you’re going to get even better, learning highly skilled techniques.

You’ll develop the full range of skills needed for constructing a house or commercial building from top to bottom, and everything else in between.

You’ll learn about different types of roofing structures and how to construct a traditional ‘cut’ roof, including openings such as dormer windows.

You’ll learn how to lay floor joists, create hatches and fix different joist coverings.

You’ll develop skills in fixing and fitting stairs, mouldings like skirtings and picture rails, encasements such as bath panels, and kitchen units and worktops.

You’ll also learn to install all types of doors – including singles, doubles, garage, French or sliding.
