This course aims to provide the knowledge to allow successful performance in the National 5 level Mathematics Course and to eventually progress on to Higher Mathematics.

The course includes 4 SQA units:

The National 5 Applications of Mathematics course is assessed by a final exam in May. This has two papers:
paper 1 is non-calculator; paper 2 allows the use of a calculator.

The course will cover:
Mathematics: Finance and Statistics - use mathematical ideas and strategies to be applied to managing finance and statistics in a real life context.

Mathematics: Geometry and Measure - develop skills that focus on the mathematical ideas which can be applied to geometry and measurement in a real life context.

Mathematics: Numeracy - to develop numerical and information handling skills to solve real-life problems involving money, number, time and measurement.
