Occupational Therapy Support

HNC Occupational Therapy Support is designed to develop and enhance knowledge and skills in occupational therapy for employment in an occupational therapy setting or to progress to relevant degree programmes. Those who already work in healthcare, social and community services and education support settings can benefit from an enhanced understanding of how to improve overall occupational performance and function, enabling people to live more independently and to self-manage any long-term conditions to enhance their quality of life.

Units include: Context and Development of Occupational Therapy; Needs and Rights of Service Users; Policies and Procedures; Philosophy and Theory of Occupational Therapy; Anatomy and Physiology; Psychology; Sociology; Audit and quality assurance; Graded Unit.

Assessment is continuous, with a mix of practical and theoretical assessments.

Entry Requirements

You must provide a suitable employment reference from your current Manager who has supervised you working in a relevant formal care, support or education support setting. Formal experience should be gained over a substantial period of time (eg for at least six continuous months).
You should be able to evidence academic understanding.
You should provide a personal statement that shows an interest in this course and of understanding occupational therapy.
