This Introduction to Counselling course is intended for people who are interested in a counselling role. This is an introductory unit which will introduce you to the purpose, and the basic concepts and processes of counselling, including the importance of reflective practice.

Level 5 and Level 6 Counselling qualifications can enhance job applications for those that want to apply to work with people, or with the public, or for those who want to develop skills, knowledge, and an understanding of how to best support people in a variety of settings (both personally and professionally), while also enhancing opportunities for career development and progression for those already in a working environment.

This SCQF Level 5 Counselling: An Introduction course has been designed for individuals who have an interest in, but who have no or have limited previous knowledge and experience of studying counselling.

This unit will introduce you to the purpose, and the basic concepts and processes, of counselling, including the importance of reflective practice. As this is an SCQF level 5 introductory unit to counselling concepts and processes, it provides underpinning and basic knowledge of the subject, however, it does not, in any way, permit those who have achieved it to refer to themselves as qualified counsellors.
