Content

This course provides progression from the City and Guilds NQ Level 4 Construction course and is supported through our partnership with Morrison Construction. Though the coursework is predominately covered in the workshop Health and Safety and the principles of building construction will be undertaken in class. CSCS trainee cards will be awarded to students who have passed the relevant health and safety course and who maintain a high standard throughout the course.

There are many construction opportunities for those who are enthusiastic and appropriately trained. The ability to problem solve and execute decorating projects effectively will enhance employment opportunities within the industry.

Content:
Health, safety and welfare in construction; Manufacture of bench joinery projects; CSCS certification; Carpentry and Joinery: An Introduction; Develop Bench Joinery Skills; Manufacture Joinery Components.

Extra-curricular
Site visits; CV assistance by SDS advisors. Work experience opportunities are available for suitable candidates.

Entry Requirements

National 4 Design and Manufacture; National 4 English and Maths preferred; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Interview. Skills test.

Progression Routes

Relevant NC or HNC course, or a craft apprenticeship in a construction trade.
