This unique course is perfect for those interested in gaining experience for a career in costume or evening/bridal...or for those who have a love for period dramas and would like to make themselves the ultimate foundation garment.
Learn the skills to draft and fit your own pattern to construct your Corset using traditional skills of boning, binding, busk insertion and lacing.
This course will allow the candidate to research the history of corsetry and gather information to present in a folio.
They will learn how to convert a basic block pattern to a traditional Victorian Corset Pattern that pulls in at the waist to achieve the Victorian silhouette.
During Corset manufacture, specialist techniques will be applied to learn boning techniques, eyelet insertion and binding finishes.
Specialist materials used include Coutil lining, steal/synthetic boning, busks and eyelets.
No formal entry requirements. You must have an interest in corsetry.
Valuable folio content and experience for application to costume courses and Bridal/costume employment.
