Health Safety and Risk Management

This course has been designed in collaboration with practitioners to study the management, rather than the technical applications, of this rapidly expanding area of expertise.

The course will appeal to practicing health and safety professionals; to those who wish to pursue a career in this area; and to managers who have day to day responsibility for the health and safety of the workforce.

Stage 1

You will develop personal and research skills for study and career development in the key areas of Health, Safety and Risk Management including health and safety legislation and hazard identification and analysis. Quality management and models for ensuring health and safety in organisations are also covered.

You can exit after Stage 1 with PgCert Health Safety and Risk Management

Stage 2

You will continue to develop your knowledge in further key areas of the specialism including management, human and psychological factors essential to the successful implementation of Health, Safety and Risk strategy. Decision-making and performance planning skills are another key aspect of study.

You can exit after Stage 2 with PgDip Health Safety and Risk Management

Stage 3

The Capstone module is designed to provide you with an opportunity to integrate Masters level knowledge and skills by independently working on an applied academic study, professional dissertation or business consultancy project from a degree related discipline. Personal and professional skills such as research, oral presentation and teamwork will be developed.

Entry Requirements

Normally a 2:2 undergraduate honours degree or its equivalent in any subject discipline. Applicants with a lower degree classification and / or relevant work experience will be considered on a case by case basis.
