The Level 2 Diploma Veterinary Care Assistant leads to a nationally recognised City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma, takes one year and will provide you with an introduction to the principles of animal nursing and care.

In this course you will cover: an introduction to general animal nursing; anatomy; assisting with anaesthesia; surgical nursing; radiograph.

In addition the course includes core skills certification and a work placement in a veterinary practice for two days a week.

It will provide you with the essential practical experience and knowledge you need to ensure you are well prepared for work as an assistant in a veterinary practice, as well as for further study.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 preferably including English, Maths and a science subject. Applicants must be employed in a veterinary practice.
