The HND in Travel and Tourism is designed to provide you with the skills required to enable you to enter into positions in a wide range of travel and tourism organisations at an operational, supervisory or managerial level. It has a heavy focus on customer service and personal and interpersonal skills.

Core units:
Travel and tourism industry; Scottish tourism; Marketing principles; Customer care; Employment in travel and tourism; Graded unit 1; Communication and presentation skills; Tour guiding; Air travel.

Optional units:
Working as senior air cabin crew; Airline and Airport Operations; International tourism; Public relations; Conferences; HR management; Customer care; Communication in Spanish.

During the second year the units include:
Planning and Sustainable Development; Marketing Planning in Travel and Tourism; Influences on the Travel and Tourism industry; Tour Operations; Graded Unit 2; Developing the Individual within a Team; Introduction to the Events Industry; Research Skills; Work Placement.

Entry Requirements

1 Higher plus 3 subjects at National 5, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5 or 6. Interview.
