Content

This programme will explore and develop your knowledge and understanding of playwork principles and theories that underpin working with children. It will develop your understanding of their roles and responsibilities in relation to working with children and young people to provide play in a variety of settings. The programme has a strong practical element in playwork. The programme includes the group award in Playwork and Childcare. Successful completion of this programme supports progression to the NC Early Education and Childcare programme which is a qualification that supports registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Subjects include:

Working with Children and Young People; Children and Young People: Rights and Protection; Children and Young People: The Process of Play; Children and Young People: Practice of Play; Development and Wellbeing of Children and Young People; Core Skills.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 4 including English, or Step into Early Learning and Childcare, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Interview.
