This course is designed for those who wish to work, or are presently working, as an Education Support Assistant (sometimes known as either Classroom Assistant or Support for Learning Assistant - this covers both of these roles). The course is viewed by the Local Authority as an alternative to the NC Early Education and Childcare therefore articulates to HNC Early Education and Childcare. Students will undertake a work placement in a primary school one day per week plus four one-week blocks. The PDA in Education Support Assistance qualification is built in to this course.

Entry Requirements

5 subjects at National 5 including English at (A or B) plus 4 other subjects at National 5 at C; or Pre-Access to Nursing or NC Introduction to Child Care; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
