Content

Successful completion of the course will enable you to seek employment and register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) at practitioner level. Visit the Scottish Social Services Council website for more information about registration requirements.

If you work in a residential child care setting this is the qualification needed, along with HNC Social Services to meet your SSSC registration requirements.

Topics relevant to working with children and young people, including:

Child Protection; Legislation; Health and Safety; Communication; Values connected with residential child care. In addition you will learn how to become a Reflective Practitioner.



Entry Requirements

SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6; or NC Social Services; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview and written test.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
