Most organisations now require a strong dynamic web presence for multi-platform use. Mobile applications have also become very popular in recent years with the increased use of smartphones and mobile devices.

Currently, demand is high in Scotland for skilled professionals who can design and develop web and mobile applications. This exciting, brand new course includes the theory and practical skills required for a career within this fast-paced and dynamic web and mobile development environment. You will gain up-to-date skills and use the latest technologies and frameworks to create usable, dynamic, responsive, interactive web sites and mobile applications.

The skills required for this industry are constantly changing and the course will continually update to meet current requirements. It will include the basic building blocks of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQLi, and XML. Photoshop, Illustrator and Bootstrap will also be introduced, as well as mobile applications for native and web use.

On successful completion of the HND, you can progress on to BSc Web Design and Development (incorporating Mobile Applications Development) at Fife College.

Entry Requirements

1 relevant Higher and 4 subjects at National 5; or Foundation Apprenticeship IT Software Development; or NC Computer Games Software Development; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.
