Content

The programme is made up of national units at Higher level, Higher Human Biology and Higher Care. The range of subjects includes Sociology and Psychology, Values and Principles in Care, Understanding Mental Health and Mental Illness. Students will also study Communication, Numeracy and ICT. There will also be external assessments for the National courses. The course also includes a care work placement.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 including English and Biology. Interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Applicants may be required to complete a preparatory course as a condition of being placed on this course.

Progression Routes

The course is suitable for applicants who wish to prepare for further studies in Health Care, HNC Care and Administrative Practice, degree in Nursing Studies; or for those who wish to go directly into employment in health related areas, such as Nursing Assistants, Care Assistants.
