Orkney College UHI courses serve the local community, from young people still at school to those wishing to study at degree and postgraduate level. It is an academic partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI).
There are three campuses: Main campus and the Institute for Northern Studies, both at Kirkwall, and Stromness Maritime campus.
Courses and subjects
There are courses at various levels, including NC, SVQ, HNC, HND, degrees and postgraduate awards.
Subjects are taught in the following subject areas: Business, Leisure and Tourism; Computing and IT; Creative Industries; Education and Childcare; Energy, Engineering and Construction; Gaelic Medium Studies; Health and Wellbeing; Humanities and Social Sciences; and Science and Environment.
Facilities and services
The main campus has a cafeteria and library facilities. Support and guidance for issues such as finance and health is available to all students at any campus.
Both Kirkwall and Stromness have a range of amenities and within the community there are clubs and societies for a wide range of interests.
Specialisms
The college is involved at the forefront of research in agronomy, archaeology and Northern studies.
