The University of Strathclyde received its charter in 1964, though it was founded in 1796, as Anderson’s Institute. It is the third largest university in Scotland, with an international reputation and outlook.
The university campus is right in the heart of Glasgow.
Courses and students
Courses are credit based, flexible, modular courses, taught through four faculties:

You could spend part of your undergraduate course abroad through exchanges with universities in Europe, the USA, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.
Strathclyde is one of only two universities in the UK to teach Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Strathclyde has around 23,000 full and part time students. Around 15% are international students from more than 100 countries.
Facilities and Services
The library has great facilities spread over five floors with areas suitable for individual and group study. There are numerous computer labs, with most open 24/7, as well as extensive wi-fi zones. There are also a number of cafes and bars, plus the Student Union.
Between the Students' and Sports Unions there are over 170 clubs and societies to get involved in, including course related ones, to hobbies and wellbeing.
Investment in Strathclyde’s campus is set to reach £1 billion by 2025. 2018 saw the opening of the new sport building, with state of the art training facilities and a range of sport and wellbeing amenities and services to students, staff and the local community. A new £60 million learning and teaching building is due to open in 2020, providing leading-edge facilities and a new home for student support services and the Students’ Union.
The university is ranked 1st in the UK for Pharmacology and Pharmacy in the Complete University Guide 2021.
In the same guide, Strathclyde is ranked 1st in Scotland and in the UK top 10 for most engineering disciplines including Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
The university is also ranked 1st in Scotland for Architecture and Journalism, Publishing and Public Relations in the Complete University Guide 2021.
The university is ranked in the top 10 in UK for 20 subjects in the Complete University Guide 2021. As well as those mentioned above, they also include Law, Education and Marketing.
