Higher maths is an entry requirement to many University courses, such as those in science, medicine and engineering. The new course replaces the current Higher Maths course which is being phased out of the Scottish curriculum, and the course consists of three units, Expressions and Functions, Relationships and Calculus and Applications. Material covered in these units will enable students to understand and apply mathematical skills in algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus. The course also aims to build resilience and confidence in problem solving, as well as interpreting, communicating and managing information in mathematical form.
