This Introduction to Healthcare course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding to progress to a higher level of study within the College and with a Skills for Work: Health Sector and an Employability qualification that is suitable for jobs within the care sector.

Communication; Health sector: Health Awareness; Health and Safety in Care; Health Sector: An Introduction; Basic Health Care Needs; First Aid; Health Sector: Roles and Responsibilities; Care: Social Influences; Care: Values and Principles; Care Human Development and Behaviour; Understanding the Needs of the Older Adult.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 4. Applications will also be considered from those without formal qualifications but who have relevant experience. Entry subject to interview.

Progression Routes

NQ/NC Health Care, NQ/NC Social Care, NQ/NC Social Sciences, or NQ Playwork, or employment in social or health related areas at support worker level.
