This course provides you with the underpinning knowledge to understand the standards and approaches that support care practice. You will also be introduced to basic caring skills in the clinical skills lab and have guest speakers from both health and social services. These elements will enable you to move on to further studies as well as giving you a qualification suitable for support jobs within the health and social services sector.
Units may include:
Prevention of infection; First Aid; Care: Human development and behaviour; Safety in a care environment; Care: Social influences; Care: Value and principles; Physiology of the cardiovascular system; Communication; Healthy eating in care settings; Mental health.
4 subjects at National 4 including English; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Applications are also invited from those without formal qualifications but who have relevant work experience. Entry subject to interview and pre-entry task.

Relevant NC course at SCQF Level 6 or potential employment in a health or social are related job at support worker level.
