The hairdressing industry is a very inspirational sector and this qualification will provide you with the right balance of knowledge and skills to become a trainee hairdresser. In addition to practical skills you will build self-confidence improving interpersonal skills by working directly with clients and highly skilled staff in a realistic working salon environment.
You will study: Shampoo, conditioning and scalp massage; Blow drying and setting techniques; Effective working relationships/positive impressions; Sustainable living; Consultation techniques; Promote additional services and products to clients; Cut hair using basic techniques; Colour hair using basic techniques; Work placement/work experience/employability; Work-based Core Skills will be studied as part of this course.
You will be supplied with the materials necessary to undertake the course.
You must be a minimum of 16 years of age at the start of your course.
3 subjects at National 4; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. You will need to complete a practical skills test and individual interview. You must have manual dexterity, a pleasant manner and a keen interest in and knowledge of the hairdressing industry.
