This 2-year HND in Travel and Tourism is a diverse course designed to give you the essential knowledge and skills required to work in the industry and make crucial connections with industry professionals through our range of guest speakers. Upon completion, you will be qualified for further study of travel and tourism at a university level.

There are two different options for HND year 1:

Granton campus offers a course designed for students wishing to explore the airline industry as you will study Senior Air Cabin Crew and Airline and Airport Operations.

Sighthill campus offers a course designed for students wishing to further their studies in tourism

Year 1:
Visitor Attraction Operations; Structure of the Travel and Tourism Industry; Business communication; Applying marketing principles in travel and tourism; Providing information on the Scottish tourism product; creating a culture of customer care; International tourist destinations; Air travel; Presentation skills; Preparation for employment.

Year 2:
Influences on the Travel and Tourism Industry; Food Tourism and Culture; Scottish Natural Heritage
Tour Operations; Planning and Sustainability in Travel and Tourism; Marketing Planning in Travel and Tourism; Visitor Attraction Management; Scottish Niche Markets in Travel and Tourism.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers, or Access to HN Travel and Tourism. Or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.

Progression Routes

Year 2 or Year 3 of BA (Hons) Tourism Management at Edinburgh Napier University Year 3 of BA (Hons) International Hospitality and Tourism Management at Queen Margaret University
