This course will introduce you to the values, skills and competencies required for the practice of social work. It provides graduates with the opportunity to train as social workers to the standard prescribed as qualifying level by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

The higher exit option (MSc) is an academic award based on research rather than a professional award, and offers a methodological underpinning for those seeking to move into research or training in social work.

You can exit after Stage 1 with PgCert Social Work

You can exit after Stage 2 with PgDip Social Work

Entry Requirements

The equivalent of a 2:2 undergraduate degree in a social science discipline. Applicants with a lower degree classification and / or relevant work experience will be considered on a case by case basis.

National 5 Maths at B required. Applicants that do not have this will be offered the University’s numeracy test.
