This is vocational and skills specific course suitable only for those who have a desire to pursue Journalism as a career.
Journalists must have the essential skills of writing and research but are now expected to record sound, shoot video and edit on digital systems. They are also increasingly expected to produce their own web content. This course has been developed to ensure that students are well versed and practiced in the digital skills which are the future of Journalism.
You'll acquire these skills on this course to enable you to position yourself for the world of work, or university.
There will be an opportunity to specialise in the area of journalism you are most interested in.
2 Highers including English or Modern Studies; or NQ Media. Portfolio of your work required. You will also need practical skills in IT, word processing, email and internet. Entry subject to interview. You will be required to write a 200-word article according to the brief given on the day and correct the spelling, grammar and punctuation in a 300-word article.
A range of degrees in Journalism, Communication or Mass Media.
