This course gives you an introduction to the basic principles of product design. You’ll gain a foundation in the creative, research, technical and analytical skills required of a professional product designer.

The course is taught by creative tutors with many years’ experience in art and product design. You have the opportunity to prepare a professional design portfolio which can be used to progress your career in the industry. You’ll also be encouraged to think about the way people live as well as the social, cultural and technical factors that influence the product design industry.

As part of your course, you will learn 2D and 3D professional Computer-Aided Drawing programs.

You'll design products such as: Drinks Dispensers; Promotional Items; Furniture; Public Art; Recycling Materials.

You'll also develop the core skills in: Communication; Problem Solving; IT; Numeracy; Working with Others.

Entry Requirements

English and Art and Design at National 5. A portfolio of your work is required. All applicants will be invited for interview.
