On this course, you'll gain skills to start or advance a career as a web designer/developer. You'll learn to build dynamic websites that deliver content in a variety of formats for computers, smartphones and tablets.

Year 1 focuses on HTML/CSS/JavaScript, PHP, mySQL, responsive frameworks, UX and mobile design.

Year 2 explores these subjects in more detail and introduces development technologies such as C#, web servers and JavaScript frameworks for web application development. You will learn how to create databases and how to integrate database content into web pages.

This course covers both client and server-side technologies with opportunities to prepare and develop web interfaces and multimedia-rich content utilising a range of Adobe, Microsoft and open-source products.

This course is designed to prepare you for progression to university or employment as a web developer/ designer at junior level.

There are opportunities to enter the WorldSkills UK Web Design competition, develop employability skills through team working and there may be opportunities to get involved with real clients and web projects.

Entry Requirements

1 relevant Higher plus 3 subjects at National 5 including Computing Science or Graphic Communication; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Entry subject to interview.
