This course will introduce you to the basic creative and practical aspects involved in photography. It will allow you to develop a good understanding of the practices and processes involved in taking photographs, ensuring that those who wish to move on to more advanced levels of study or employment are well-equipped with the skills needed to do so. You will start to build your own portfolio whilst studying fundamental aspects of photography including portraiture, studio photography, file optimisation, image manipulation and print.

What will I learn?

You will build a good understanding of basic camera techniques, whilst developing your studio photography and portraiture skills. You will also learn about file optimisation and how to manipulate your images, ensuring you can edit and prepare your photographs effectively and creatively.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5, or completion of relevant introductory course at SCQF Level 5. Relevant work experience will also be considered.
