Content

1st Year: Topics studied will include Mechanics and Waves; Principles of Chemistry; Fields and Forces; Chemical Reactivity; Mathematics; Physics and Chemistry Laboratory Work.

2nd Year: Topics studied will include Photonics; Introduction to Quantum Mechanics and Spectroscopy; Chemical Kinetics; Relativity; Thermodynamics; Atomic Structure and Molecular Bonding; Mathematics; Communication Skills; Physics and Chemistry Laboratory Work.

3rd Year: Topics studied will include Advanced Chemical Structure; Electromagnetism and Optics; Advanced Mathematics; Solid State Physics; Circuits and Analysis; Quantum Theory and Advanced Spectroscopy; Classical Dynamics; Statistical Physics; Laboratory Work.

4th Year: Topics will include Advanced Chemical Kinetics; Lasers; Numerical Modelling and Data Analysis; Large Scale Chemical Systems; Nuclear and Particle Physics; Advanced Quantum Mechanics; Advanced Problem Solving; Chemical Physics Research Project.

5th Year: Topics will include Advanced Optics; Advanced Physical Chemistry; Advanced Quantum Mechanics; Computer Modelling of Chemical Systems; Advanced Laser Physics; Chemical Physics Research Project.

Entry Requirements

2020 entry requirements:
Standard entry: 4 or 5 Highers at AAAB or ABBBB including Maths or Physics at A and Chemistry plus English and Maths (if not held at Higher) at National 5.

Widening access entry: 4 Highers at BBBC including Maths, Chemistry and Physics at BBB plus English at National 5.

For entry to Level 2 you would require Advanced Higher Maths and Physics at BB plus Highers as above.
