1st Year: Core Chemistry with Mathematics and Biology courses. Lab work plays a key role in developing practical skills.
2nd Year: Core Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry courses, along with Cell Biology and Biochemistry, are studied.
3rd Year: Advanced Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry, with courses in Medicinal Pharmaceutical Chemistry as well as Principles of Drug Discovery and Development.
4th Year: Along with advanced lectures in Inorganic, Organic, Physical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, special chemistry topics are taken. BSc (Hons) students undertake a 16-week chemistry research project. MChem students undertake special practical courses to give deeper understanding of modern analytical practical techniques; these are underpinned with theoretical aspects.
2020 entry requirements:
Standard entry: 4 Highers at AABB including Chemistry plus English and Maths at National 5.
Widening access entry: 4 Highers at BBBC including Chemistry at B plus English at National 5.
For entry to Level 2 you would require Advanced Higher Maths and Chemistry at AB or BA plus 4 Highers at AABB.
