First Year: Students study modules that are common across the Programme. It is intended to give students an introduction into the civil engineering industry.
Second Year: Expands on the basics of the First Year:, with subjects such as Advanced Calculus, Geology and Hydraulics.
Third Year: Is concerned with engineering principles - structural steel and concrete design, environmental topics and structures.
Fourth Year: May be taken at a host institution abroad either in Europe or North America, as part of an exchange programme. Alternatively, students can take advanced design practice and the design project, plus more specialist options.
Fifth Year: Concentrates on structural research and practical design, some within an engineering context, others undertaken in collaboration with students from Architecture, or Building Engineering and Surveying. Students also work on a group research project with industry.
2020 entry requirements:
Standard entry: 4 or 5 Highers at AABB or ABBBB including Maths plus English at National 5.
Widening access entry: 4 Highers at BBBC including Maths at B plus English at National 5.
For entry to Level 2 you would require 2 Advanced Highers at BB including Maths plus 4 or 5 Highers at AABB or ABBBB.
