The HNC Applied Biological Sciences is a general science qualification intended for those wishing to find employment in the science industries or to progress to further study at HND level. It is a broad course providing students with knowledge and skills related to biological, chemical and physical sciences. Students will also develop a wide range of practical laboratory skills in addition to gaining an understanding of good laboratory practice.

Content:
Lab Skills for Science Industries; Cell Biology; Chemistry; Maths; Biochemistry; Microbiology; DNA and Genetics; Animal Plant Cell Culture; Graded Unit.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including Biology or Chemistry; or Foundation Apprenticeship in Scientific Technologies plus 1 Higher; or NC Applied Science (Level 6); or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Preference given to applicants with a strong science background.

Progression Routes

Year 2 of HND Applied Biological Science; Applied Sciences; Applied Chemical Sciences, or year 1 or 2 of a relevant degree.
