This introductory course provides a dynamic starting point for a career in fashion. From the outset, you are encouraged to develop an individual approach to garment design and garment manufacture, while working within a team to master the basic principles of fashion design, fashion merchandising, pattern and garment production.

The major part of this programme is practical project based and will involve students in designing, creating patterns and producing garments from their own ideas, blending innovative techniques with realistic manufacturing processes. Fashion Merchandising investigates fashion history and promotional techniques.

You will study: Fashion design; Pattern construction skills; Sewing skills; Textiles; Fashion digital illustration; Fashion merchandising; Display; The Core Skills of ICT and communication will be developed and certificated on this course.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 4 including English (Art and Design is preferred) or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Portfolio of work.
