The Level 3 Diploma in Performing & Production Arts (Dance) is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to HNC/D level study or eventually employment in dance. This highly practical course provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in the area of dance to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure that is stimulating, demanding and provides a supportive transition to higher-level study.

You will focus on the essential techniques and disciplines needed for a career in dance and performing arts. The course will develop your skills in the main three dance disciplines of ballet, jazz and contemporary alongside classes or workshops in other dance styles and gaining essential skills in choreography.

Subjects Include:
principles of performance - building a foundation of knowledge in dance technique, staging and collaborative work; engaging with an audience - considering how to convey a theme or message to an audience; introduction to professional practice - an introduction to potential job roles in dance, staying healthy as a dancer, audition technique; critical and contextual awareness - investigating dance history, cultural, ethical and social contexts; production skills and context - planning and designing elements such as lights, sound, costume and set for a dance performance; performance skills and context - choreography and planning for a dance performance; preparation for specialist study - applying dance technique to performance work; collaborative performance project - perform and evaluate a dance piece.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements. Must be physically fit to full take part in all theoretical and practical classes. Audition.
