This course introduces learners to several areas of computing including Computer Game Design, Website Design, Computer Hardware, Computer Support, Computer Software Applications and provides a good basis to progress onto a more advanced SCQF level 6 qualification or to gain employment as a Junior IT Trainee.

The topics studied will include Computer Games Design and Development, Website Design, Graphics and Development.

In terms of ICT Support the learner will study and obtain hands on practical experience covering: Computer Hardware and Systems, Install and Maintain Computer Software, Troubleshoot and Secure IT Systems.

Time will also be spent developing skills in software development and using IT applications in the Microsoft Office suite including word processing and presentations.

Time will also be spent developing appropriate numeracy and communication skills that are paramount in today’s working ICT society.

Also included in the course are two National Progression Awards in Computer Games Development and Web Design.

Entry Requirements

5 subjects at National 4; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. You will attend for an advice session with pre-entry test. Interview.
