Developed in partnership with the Civil Engineering Contracting Association (CECA), this intensive short course aims to address the skills gap within the industry by developing a future pipeline of talent of Civil Engineering Operatives in Scotland.

You will hit the ground running with this highly practical, hands-on course which will include site visits to establish industry links and prepare you for future employment.

On successful completion of the programme you will gain an NPA qualification in construction operations, and a guaranteed interview, offering a direct route into the industry as a civil engineering operative.

Content:

Workplace health safety and welfare; Conform to productive work practices; Set out secondary dimensional work controls: an introduction; Install road drainage; Lay kerbs and channels; Excavate holes and trenches; Reinstate ground conditions; Form concrete structures; Lay and finish concrete; Work readiness ; Skills + Portfolio.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however you should have an interest and desire to work in the civil engineering industry.

A level 4 qualification or previous work experience would be beneficial.
