This course provides the essential skills required for a career in floristry. You will be assessed using specified criteria and work to commercially acceptable timeframes. You will learn about different flowers and plants and how to look after them, the floristry environment and creative finishing-touches. You will develop an understanding of the principles of design and gain knowledge of how floristry businesses operate and develop the skills required to interact with customers and to identify their needs.
Content includes:
Health and safety in land-based industries; Working in the floristry industry; Customer service; Caring for and maintaining floristry products; Prepare to create floristry designs; Creating floristry designs; Floristry design principles.
To be awarded the qualification the following must be achieved:
Theory exam; Synoptic assignment; Health and safety assignment; Evidence of 150 hours of a work experience
(Exam dates set by the awarding body City and Guilds).
Floristry (City and Guilds) Award or Certificate Level 1, or relevant experience.
