This course is for prospective students, keen on a professional role in the construction industry, or for experienced construction operatives, who are looking to up-skill and enhance their promotion prospects.

The course focuses on the key knowledge required by a construction technician, site supervisor/agent/manager, to provide a strong grounding in construction methods, procedures, organisation and contractual arrangements.

You will learn contemporary technical roles, currently required by the construction industry:

Construction Contracts and Procedures; Substructures; Domestic Construction; Industrial and Commercial Construction Methods; Construction Health and Safety; Site Administration; Computer Aided Draughting (CAD); Building Services Introduction; Building Services In Large Buildings
Construction Site Surveying; Building Measurement and Cost Studies (Quantity Surveying); Construction Materials Testing and Specification; Construction Planning; Graded Unit Project.

Entry Requirements

1 Higher plus relevant subjects at National 5 including a science or technological subject, or a relevant Foundation Apprenticeship, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview. Aptitude test.
