This programme will interest you if you help others or want to support individuals in hospitals, people's homes, schools, and health centres.

Effective skills involving active listening, clear communication and good interpersonal skills, and the qualities of acceptance, genuineness and empathy are essential.

The programme may include the following units, which will be a combination of National 5, and Higher Units: Values and Principles in Care, Caring for People with Dementia, Application of Mathematics, Communication, Information and Communication Technology, Ensure Your Own Actions Support the Care, Protection and Well-Being of Individuals and Preparation for Higher Education.

Entry Requirements

5 subjects at National 5 including English, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
