This course is designed to offer school leavers and those with no formal bakery qualifications an opportunity to study the subject at an introductory level. The course will provide you with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to progress onto further bakery courses. On this course, you will be able to make a range of sweet and savoury baked goods including bread, pastries, pies, cakes, gateaux and desserts.

Content:
Introduction to cake decoration; Introductin to bread making; Introduction to craft baking; Pastry; Cake decoration; Food hygiene.

Entry Requirements

2 subjects at National 3, preferably including English and Maths, plus some basic knowledge of Bakery, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 3. Interview.

Progression Routes

NQ Bakery (Level 6), or opportunities in the Bakery and Cake Decoration industry.
