Introduction to Construction is a fast track programme designed to build your employability skills, develop your practical skills and prepare you for the job market, or to move on to further study at college or to an apprenticeship within the construction industry.

The course aims to help you become more confident and independent in your learning, support you to plan for your next step in a construction career and allow you to gain skills and experience to move into the construction industry.

You will work towards completion of a City and Guilds award and develop:
Communication, numeracy, ICT skills; Social skills; Team building skills; Workplace safety; CV, interviewing and job seeking skills; Practical construction skills.

Entry Requirements

National 3 English, Maths and a technological or science subject. Interview and practical skills test.

Progression Routes

National Progression Award (NPA) construction or any SCQF level 5 courses in engineering, construction and motor vehicle at West Lothian College.
