Content

This course provides an introduction to subjects related to the world of childcare. You will develop your soft skills in subjects such as ICT, numeracy and communication within a care context.

There may be an opportunity for a short work experience placement.

Successful completion of this course may lead to progression onto an SCQF 6 course such as Childhood Practice or Care Practice flexible programme.

Units include:-

Working in Early Learning and Childcare; Coping Strategies and Building Resilience; Psychology; Sociology; Care practice; Development and wellbeing of children and young people; Children and Young People: Practice of play and process of play.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 4 including English.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
